Emergency Care
Always open, FMC's Emergency Department has physician and surgical specialists and advanced technology to help patients in a heart crisis. Protocols include thrombylic therapy (use of clot-dissolving medications). Staff respond to heart emergencies in ways proven most effective in saving lives and restoring health. Emergency patients can be assured that all capabilities of the Heart Institute are available if they need them.

Since angioplasty revolutionized heart care several decades ago, our physicians continue to offer more minimally invasive heart procedures, including traditional open surgery using less invasive approaches. The Heart Institute performs peripheral angioplasties, carotid artery stenting and therapeutic laser atherectomy, which mechanically removes blockages in arteries.
Heart Surgery
If surgical invention is needed, the Heart Institute of Florida stands ready with a skilled, experienced staff and advanced surgical facilities for procedures such as coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve repair and replacement and more.
Dedicated Units
A dedicated Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Medical Intensive Unit provide advanced care for heart patients. A hemodynamic patient monitoring and patient data clinical information system supports patient recovery.
